AI-based measures

The ‘Measures’ tab in PCF enables AI-based measures for emission reduction and data improvement to be generated automatically on the basis of stored PCF data.

In the Measures tab within a Product Carbon Footprint (PCF), you can automatically generate measure suggestions using artificial intelligence (AI). These suggestions help you identify potential emission reduction measures and close data gaps in a targeted manner.

Note on data protection and consent: 

We work with the service provider OpenAI to generate AI-based recommendations for action. We require your express consent to transfer relevant customer data to OpenAI. No data will be transferred without your consent. However, in this case, no AI-based recommendations for action can be generated. 

How to generate AI-based measure suggestions

1. Collect relevant PCF data

The following information is required to generate actions:

  • a product description and

  • at least one activity including consumption value

The checkboxes in the Measures tab show you which data has already been fully entered.

2. Generate measures

Once all the necessary data has been entered, the ‘Suggest measures’ button will be highlighted in colour and can be clicked. Click on the button to start the process.

3. Give your consent

A pop-up window will open with information about data processing by OpenAI. Tick the consent checkbox and click ‘Save’.

4. View suggested measures

After a short wait, the generated measure suggestions will be available to you. These are saved automatically and remain available even after you reopen the report or tab.

5. Regenerate suggested measures

You can regenerate the measure suggestions by clicking on the ‘Re-suggest measures’ button in the top right-hand corner. Any changes made in the ‘Data’ tab will be taken into account and incorporated into the new AI-based suggestions. 

Structure of the proposed measures

For a better overview, the AI-based measures are divided into two categories:

Content-related measures

  • Specific information on emission reduction

  • Structured according to stages and sub-stages of the Climate Hub

Methodological measures

  • Recommendations for data collection

  • Information on specific data entry in the Climate Hub

You can easily switch between the individual measures using the navigation bar on the right-hand side.
