CCF: Data quality and uncertainty assessment
April 17th, 2026
As of now, you can assess the data quality of your emission factors and activity data in the Climate Hub and automatically calculate the uncertainty of your emission results based on this.
1. Indicating the data quality of emission factors
To calculate the uncertainty, you assess your emission factors based on four quality dimensions:
-
Precision
-
Geographical representativeness
-
Technological representativeness
-
Temporal representativeness
You can perform the assessment either when adding a new activity via the button “Add own activity” or afterwards via the pencil icon at the end of the activity row.

2. Indicating the data quality of activity data
As before, you can assess the quality of your activity data using the ‘Precision’ column in the relevant activity row.

3. Results of the calculation
As a result, you will receive the following metrics per location as well as aggregated across all locations:
Data quality metrics for emission factors
-
Accuracy
-
Temporal representativeness
-
Geographical representativeness
-
Technological representativeness
Uncertainty metrics
-
Total uncertainty of emission factors
-
Total uncertainty of activity data
-
Total uncertainty of emission factors and activity data
Your benefits
-
More transparency regarding the reliability of your CO₂ inventory
-
Better traceability for reporting and audits
-
Clear opportunities to improve your data quality
👉 You can find the new metrics in the “Data quality & uncertainty” tab within the analysis.

Further information on the individual quality indicators can be found in the Helpdesk.
