Software Limitations in PCF

This article documents areas where Climate Hub does not handle certain steps automatically – whether because a feature is currently missing, data sources do not provide certain information, or calculations must be performed externally. Being aware of these limitations helps you record data correctly and avoid gaps in your PCF results. The list is updated regularly as new areas are identified.

Allocation

The software does not calculate allocation factors itself, nor does it apply them automatically to process emissions. The user calculates the factor externally (e.g., based on mass or price data) and then enters only the already-allocated share as the activity quantity, or adjusts the emission factor accordingly. Likewise, in the case of substitution, the emission credit is not calculated automatically but must be entered manually as a separate activity with a negative emission factor.

No Multilingual Handling in Free-Text Fields

Free-text fields do not support structured multilingualism – there are no separate fields for German and English. The user must decide on one language per entry or enter both language versions manually in the same field, which can limit readability.

Electricity Module

When using the electricity module, a breakdown of the factors is not possible, as climatiq does not provide this. Instead, only the factor (excl. biogenic CO2 uptake) is populated. For a complete biogenic breakdown of electricity consumption, we recommend recording electricity consumption alternatively via the activity-based emission factor search using an ecoinvent factor.

PACT- and TfS-compliant CSV Export

The CSV export in accordance with PACT and TfS is not yet available in the software, so transferring your data to another system must be done manually. We are already working on it and will make the export available as soon as possible.
