Which standards does the Climate Hub for the PCF?

The Climate Hub enables the creation of the Product Carbon Footprint (PCF), which covers all relevant greenhouse gas emissions attributable to an individual product across its life cycle. Unlike the CCF, which considers the emissions of the entire organization, the PCF focuses on a single product and its defined system boundary (e.g. cradle-to-gate or cradle-to-grave).

The primary standard used is ISO 14067, which specifies the principles, requirements, and guidelines for quantifying and reporting the carbon footprint of a product across its entire life cycle.

In addition, the Climate Hub supports the Catena-X standard, the automotive industry data ecosystem for the standardized and interoperable exchange of PCF data along the supply chain. The Catena-X PCF Rulebook builds methodologically on ISO 14067 but concretizes its requirements in a binding manner for the automotive supply chain (e.g. a mandatory cradle-to-gate system boundary).

The Climate Hub also supports PACT (Partnership for Carbon Transparency) for the consistent and comparable exchange of PCF data across companies and industries. PACT builds on the WBCSD Pathfinder Framework, which is aligned with ISO 14067 and the GHG Protocol Product Standard.
