PCF: Changes to Data quality rating and Primary data share for Catena-X and PACT

These adjustments are required to ensure conformity with the Catena-X and PACT standard.

Data Quality Rating

The DQR is based exclusively on emission factors – activity data is no longer included. The aggregated DQR is the average of the temporal, geographical, and technological representativeness of the emission factor. 

These dimensions are calculated per structural element as a weighted average across all activities. The absolute CO₂e values serve as the weight – for Catena-X the GWP incl. biogenic CO₂ uptake, for PACT the GWP excl. biogenic CO₂ uptake.

The PDF report has been removed from both standards, as the calculation differs from the one for ISO 14067.

Primary Data Share

Activity data ratings move from the five-level scale (Very good to Very poor) to a two-level classification: Primary and Secondary. Existing reports are migrated automatically: Very good → Primary, all other levels → Secondary.

A primary data share ≠ 0 % is only assigned if all three conditions are met:

• the activity's data category is Primary,
• the emission factor is a supplier-specific EF, and
• the "Primary data share" field is filled in.

Otherwise 0 % is assumed. The weighting is applied analogously to the data quality rating: for Catena-X using the GWP incl. biogenic CO₂ uptake, for PACT the GWP excl. biogenic CO₂ uptake.
