PCF and CCF: More transparency for emission factors – second step in systematic structural upgrades
April 17th, 2026
For certification purposes and to improve traceability, we are gradually enhancing the input fields for emission factors. This includes:
-
Source details
for a more precise description of the source, e.g. by specifying versions -
Name of factor from source
original name of the emission factor as stated in the referenced source -
Source year
publication or reference year of the data source used -
System boundary
specification of the underlying accounting boundary, e.g. Combustion, Tank-to-Wheel, Well-to-Tank or comparable distinctions -
Source Country/Region
geographical area for which the emission factor is representative
As a second step in the structural updates, the input forms for the following data entry options have been extended:
-
Custom activities in Scope 3 and in the PCF
-
Electricity consumption added via the Smart Energy Module in Scope 2 and 3 and in the PCF
- Predefined activities available via the dropdown menu across all CCF categories and PCF (sub)phases
Custom activities (Scope 3, PCF)

When adding activities via the smart emission factor module, the activity- or spend-based search, this information will be automatically filled in by the Climate Hub.
Electricity consumption (Scope 2)
If no individual CO2e factor is selected, this information will be automatically filled in by the Climate Hub displaying location based and market based factors. If an individual CO2e factor is available, the fields can be edited.

Electricity consumption (Scope 3, PCF)
Note that for Scope 3 and PCF, the total emission factor is displayed with the system boundary upstream-electricity_generation, as it is composed of multiple sources, including factors from electricity generation, well-to-tank, transmission and distribution and well-to-tank for transmission and distribution.

Predefined activities (CCF, PCF)
Predefined activities now also display all the necessary information.

Outlook
In the next step, we plan to display the additional information in the PDF report. The goal is to ensure consistent, end-to-end, and audit-proof documentation across all scopes/stages and output formats.
