PCF and CCF: Update to predefined emission factors
April 17th, 2026
When creating a new report, the following updates to predefined emission factors have been implemented and are available in Emission factor version 19 (CCF) and version 3 (PCF):
- Ecoinvent emission factors have been updated to version 3.12.
- Logistics emission factors have been fully migrated from ecoinvent and DEFRA to GLEC version 3.2.
GLEC provides significantly improved granularity and is increasingly established as the industry standard for freight emissions accounting. This transition ensures methodological alignment with best practice and enhances comparability and transparency of logistics-related emissions.
This change applies to CCF upstream and downstream transportation, PCF inbound, exchange and outbound logistics.
Emission factors now include:- Freight train, with and without temperature control
- Trucks ranging from 3.5 to 40 t in different weight classes, with and without temperature control
- Transporter / Van (< 3.5t)
- Freighter overseas (bulk) in different deadweight classes, with and without temperature control
- Freighter overseas (container and refrigerated container)
- Freighter inland (container vessels and motor vessels)
- Air freight (short-haul <1500 km and long-haul >1500 km)
- Emission factors for organic and hazardous waste have been revised from treatment-based activities to market-based activities.
This change improves methodological consistency with other waste categories and better reflects real-world waste handling and market dynamics.
This change applies to CCF waste and end-of-life treatment of sold products, PCF waste and waste water. - CCF specific: Emission factors for hotel accommodation in business travel have been switched from ESU to Greenview.
Greenview provides more recent and regionally representative data, improving the accuracy of accommodation-related emissions in business travel reporting. - CCF specific: Emission factors for remote work in employee commuting have been updated with the most recent available electricity emission factors.
