PCF: improvements to the smart emission factor module

To improve results using the smart emission factor module via the CSV upload, the following adjustments have been made:

In the two sub-stages raw materials and semi-finished products as well as packaging material a default system boundary is now automatically assigned if no entry is provided in the CSV file. The following system boundaries are applied:

• cradle_to_gate

• cradle_to_farm_gate

• cradle_to_plant_gate

• cradle_to_processing_gate

This automatic default setting is intended to generate more suitable emission factor suggestions.

If the suggested emission factors still do not match your expectations, assigning the activity to a clear and appropriate product category can improve the quality of the AI suggestions (e.g., “motor gear” instead of “gear”). In general, clear and commonly understandable category terms work better than very specific technical details or abbreviations.
