Event Carbon Footprint (ECF)

The Event Carbon Footprint (ECF) records and balances the greenhouse gas emissions generated in connection with the planning and realisation of an event. This includes the participants' travel to and from the event, the event venue, catering, energy consumption and materials.

The systematic collection of this data enables the climate impact of an event to be presented transparently, hotspots to be identified and targeted reduction or compensation measures to be derived.

The creation of an ECF and the type of data to be collected are based on the same principles and procedures as the Corporate Carbon Footprint (CCF). Further information on methodology, data collection and system boundaries can be found in the relevant sections under Corporate Carbon Footprint.
