How does the role model work?

This article describes and explains how the role model works and how to use it in the tool.

The role model functions as a structured system for managing user rights and access. It is based on the concept of Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) and enables efficient and secure control of authorisations within the tool.

The role model defines various roles that represent specific tasks, responsibilities and access rights. Each role bundles a series of authorisations that regulate access to certain functions, data or areas of the software. Users are then assigned to one or more of these predefined roles instead of being assigned individual authorisations directly.

The role model offers you several advantages:

1. Simplified administration: administrators can manage authorisations centrally via roles instead of configuring them individually for each user.

2. Consistency: All users with the same role automatically receive the same authorisations, which reduces inconsistencies.

3. Scalability: The system can be easily adapted to growing organisations by creating new roles or modifying existing ones.

4. Security: By restricting access to necessary functions, the principle of least privilege is implemented.

5. Flexibility: Roles can be structured hierarchically in order to map complex organisational structures.
